B.B. King was an American blues guitarist and singer, widely regarded as one of the greatest blues musicians of all time. Born on September 16, 1925, in Mississippi, he started performing in the 1940s and gained popularity in the 1950s and 1960s with hits such as “Three O’Clock Blues,” “You Don’t Know Me,” and “Sweet Little Angel.”

He was known for his distinctive guitar playing style, which incorporated shimmering vibrato and complex note bending, and for his soulful, emotive vocals. B.B. King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and received numerous Grammy Awards, including a lifetime achievement award.

He continued to tour and perform until his death on May 14, 2015.
